EXTRUSIONS FOR LED: WHEN SHOULD I USE ALUMINUM LED PROFILES?

By placing your LED tape in an extrusion, you can create a more “finished” appearance compared to the non-installed PCB, which is ideal if the product is installed in a location where it is clearly visible.

What are the benefits of LED extrusions?

Aluminum extrusions with LED light strips help prevent contact damage if the LED tape is placed within easy reach. And although they are not waterproof, extrusions can help prevent moisture. (For added protection against water, consider installing an IP67 LED tape on extrusions.)

These LED lights have a range of extrusion profiles, each with different advantages. They include our optical lens extrusion, which actually "sheds" the light even closer by narrowing the beam of the LED ribbon and adds a luxurious finish to the LED strip lights.

What is the difference between LED extrusions and LED profiles?
There's no difference. The terms "aluminum extrusion" and "aluminum profile" are interchangeable.

What types of LED extrusions are available?

  • Deep surface
  • Deep surface extrusion
  • Shallow recessed
  • Hollowed out extrusion
  • Hollowed out deep
  • Deep cupped extrusion
  • Tube surface
  • Extrusion of the tube surface
  • Thin surface
  • Thin surface extrusion
  • Corner

  • Optical lens
  • Optical lens extrusion

Where to use LED extrusions

Aluminum extrusions can improve and improve all kinds of LED strip light installations. They are an ideal addition to restaurants, hotels, bars, and clubs.

What is the length of an LED extrusion?

Standard LED light strips also offer splash-proof (IP65) or fully waterproof (IP67) tapes, sealed with heat sink coatings.
If you choose to cut an IP67 tape yourself, it will no longer be guaranteed to be waterproof ... but you can completely reseal the tape to its original protection level using a heat gun and a heat sink.

How to install an LED extrusion

The extrusions can be fixed in place with countersunk screws, directly in the extrusion. Alternatively, you can buy fixing brackets if you prefer. These can be joined in place, and once they are in position, their extrusion can be attached to them.
