CHOOSING LED STRIPS: HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT LEDS FOR YOUR PROJECT

CHOOSING LED STRIPS

LED strips are a versatile light source that can be installed almost anywhere. They consist of a flexible base layer (a printed circuit board or PCB) that is backed by a self-adhesive tape and studded with a row of light-emitting diodes. LEDs are placed at regular intervals, usually, 60 or 120 diodes per meter, to provide a smooth effect when they are illuminated.
Extremely narrow only 8 mm wide and 3 mm high, LED strips are ideal for installation in narrow areas where other forms of lighting would not be practical. They are energy efficient, use very little energy (only 4.8 watts per meter) and, however, can produce enough light to replace the fluorescent tubes (up to 1440 lumens per meter).

LED strips are available in a wide range of colors, which include a variety of whites, as well as RGB / RGBW color changing strips, which will allow you to mix any shade of any color when connected to an LED controller.
LED strips can be supplied in standard or waterproof versions, for external use or in places where moisture resistance is required. Regardless of the type you install, the LED strips will offer bright and striking lighting and improve any environment, residential or commercial, indoor or outdoor. Very simple to install, they are economical and can reactivate and transform the look of your home or business.

Where can I use LED tapes?

LED strips open a world of creative possibilities. Extremely versatile, you can place LED strips in almost any location, and take advantage of a wide range of brightness levels, colors and programmed lighting scheme options. Here are some examples of typical applications.
  • Ceiling LED lights and walls in washed color.
  • Cabinet lighting - above and below kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
  • Skirting boards, moldings, panels, and socket lighting.
  • Doors, windows, floors, and stairs.
  • Signage and showcase sign.
  • Areas of bars, clubs, and restaurants.
  • Lighting feature for cabinets, showcases, and counters.
  • Outdoors - gardens, courtyards, access roads.
  • Christmas lights, weddings, and other special occasions.
  • General work light that replaces fluorescent tubes.

What is the difference between the LED tape, the LED strips/strips, and the LED tapes?

Some manufacturers call their LED products by different names. There is no difference between the LED tape, the LED strips/strips, and the LED tapes, they are all the same.

LED strips - the basics
LED strips can operate with 12 volts or 24 volts, powered by a constant voltage transformer or controller. More than one LED strip can be powered by a single transformer, as long as its total wattage is less than the transformer's output power.
LED strips are normally supplied on reels of standard length 5 meters. You can make your strips cut to the maximum before they are sent when you place your order, or you can cut them yourself. Each LED tape is marked with special cut points, generally spaced at intervals of 25 mm, 50 mm or 100 mm, depending on the type. Longer lengths can be created by welding as needed (again, if you wish, you can order your previously welded strips).
White and single color LED strips can be dimmed with a combination of transformer, receiver and intensity regulator. Similarly, the RGB and RGBW LED strips (which change color) can be managed with a suitable transformer, receiver, and controllers.
